What could be more joyous than putting on a party dress and dancing on the grass on a sunny day?

When you’re the photographer (me!) capturing just this moment, the answer is being awarded an Honorable Mention in Documentary Family Award’s 2021 “Joy” category.

I am humbled that this sun-kissed image of 2 children close to my heart has received such wonderful recognition. Part of what I love about photographing kids is how pure their emotions are. The joy of dancing is something that too often fades with age and I hope this image reminds us all to just DANCE.
